Our Mission

With Presbyterians across the country, we see the mission of the church as guided by six key purposes:

  • sharing the good news of the gospel for the salvation of all people,
  • providing care, support, and spiritual community for God’s children,
  • maintaining meaningful worship,
  • upholding and preserving the truth,
  • promoting justice and righteousness in society,
  • and showing the world a glimpse of God’s Kingdom.

We work together to live out these goals, believing they come from the Spirit speaking to the church through scripture.

At Newton Presbyterian Church, everything we do is shaped by our deep commitment to values that guide our life together:

  • Participating in authentic, loving community and relationships
  • Actively contributing to the well-being of each other and our neighbors
  • Being a living Presbyterian church
  • Cultivating an open, curious place to experience Christian faith

These values inspire us to grow in faith, serve with purpose, and welcome all with open hearts.

Core Values

What We Believe

About God

God created the universe and everything in it. We know God as three-in-one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God’s love is constantly at work in creation, offering redemption and empowerment to all.

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, showing us God’s deep love for all people. Through his life, death, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness and a renewed relationship with God. Being his followers means loving God and our neighbors, with the Holy Spirit guiding us along the way.

About Humanity

God created all people in God’s image, giving us the ability to reflect divine love. Though we fall short and sin, God does not abandon us. Through Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and made whole, learning to live more fully into God’s love.

About the Bible

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is central to our faith. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we see it as the unique and powerful witness to Jesus Christ. It shapes our worship, community, and service to God.

About the Church

God, in the Trinity, is a community of love, and we are created to reflect that. As the church, we are called to live in love and community, following Jesus. Though we are Presbyterians, we value the ways other Christian churches share in God’s love and work for good in the world.

About Differences Among People

We believe all people are made in God’s image, for purposes beyond our understanding. No matter your gender, race, age, ability, or orientation, we welcome you to experience God’s love and forgiveness as we journey toward new life together.
